EXPOSURE MONITORING
Animal Allergen Monitoring
Animal allergen exposure can arise across agricultural, laboratory and food processing environments where airborne proteinaceous dust is generated.
We support organisations with animal allergen monitoring through personal and static air sampling, carried out by BOHS qualified occupational hygienists.
Covering the entire UK, our exposure assessments help duty holders understand employee exposure, evaluate existing control measures and support COSHH compliance requirements.

ENVIRONMENTS
Assessing exposure across a range of environments
Animal allergen exposure can occur wherever airborne biological material, proteinaceous dust or animal-derived particulate is generated during workplace activities.
Poultry & Agriculture
Agricultural activities associated with airborne poultry protein, organic dust and respiratory allergen exposure.
Animal Research Labs
Environments involving airborne rodent allergen exposure associated with animal handling and containment activities.
Food Manufacturing
Industrial food production activities involving airborne animal-derived protein and allergen exposure.
Fish Processing
Processing and handling activities capable of generating airborne fish protein and allergenic material.
Animal Feed Production
Handling and transfer of animal feed material associated with proteinaceous and organic dust generation.
Animal Handling
General animal interaction and containment activities associated with airborne allergen and biological particulate release.
ANALYTES & CONTAMINANTS
Analysing organic & proteinaceous dust
Animal allergen exposure has been associated with occupational asthma, respiratory sensitisation and wider occupational health concerns, particularly where airborne proteinaceous material becomes dispersed during workplace activities.
PROCESS
Simple and efficient assessment process
We provide animal allergen exposure assessment with minimal operational disruption, from initial review and workplace monitoring through to reporting and practical exposure control recommendations.
1.
Initial Discussion & Preliminary Assessment
We discuss workplace activities, materials, existing controls and any known or suspected exposure concerns to determine an appropriate monitoring strategy.
2.
Workplace Animal Allergen Monitoring
Personal and/or static air sampling is undertaken under representative working conditions to assess employee exposure during normal operational activities.
3.
Laboratory Analysis & Assessment
Samples are analysed either in-house or by accredited laboratories and assessed against relevant Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) and applicable occupational hygiene guidance.
4.
Reporting & Recommendations
A full report is provided outlining exposure findings, monitoring methodology and practical recommendations where further control or reassessment may be required.
RELATED SERVICES
